Seen this in Thorne monthly newsletter and it looks to be a stonking bargain, these things usually run over £2000?

SMART Weighing and Filling Machine.

Made in China by one of our trusted suppliers, this pneumatic filling unit is incredible value for money. The hopper will hold 60+kgs and gravity feeds the filling head. All stainless steel construction with spare head for thicker honey. Foot pedal operation and complete with stand. The scales are fully adjustable and very accurate. Simply programme the weight required in the jar, the cut-off is clean and precise with no drips.

I must say I was intrigued by this. I like the idea but I have to convince myself that the time I'd save is worth £650

I think this falls into the category of ‘you pays your money and takes your choice’ - having seen the Swienty unit and similar others I think this unit isn’t really comparable. The gravity feed v pumped/pulled through the dispensing head is quite a difference (in my opinion) and the various settings on the latest dispensing heads start to explain the price differential.

I would find it hard to justify with so few hives however I find jarring the most tedious job.

Just looked at the picture, from my days in a 'food factory' running various 'filling machines' I can see one air feed line and two air lines on the dispenser. I would judge it to be pneumatic , a gravity feed would have and need distance between hopper and dispensing head.

Had a better look at it. The dispenser head will probably be with a pneumatic "gate' valve and gravity will refill the dispenser head. The hopper/tank itself is not pressurised.. My gut reaction is that its a lot of money for a stainless drum, a pneumatic valve and foot pedal
and a weighing machine. Suggest you go and see one in operation before parting with any cash.

Certainly looks interesting at the price, but is it worth it. Think I will see if they have one to look at in the Newburgh branch next time I am down that way

Me and my buddy stopped and took a good look at this. We soon moved on Murox advice is good.
