I have loads of last yrs honey that I have jarred up and wondered what the going price is now. Local farm shop is selling 'local honey' for £3.75lb I thought this was too cheap.

it is were selling ours for £5.50/lb this year

I wont allow mine to be sold for less than £5.50 for 12oz. that works out at about £7.33 per lb.

agree mine also sells for 5.50 in the 4 shops im in

I get £5 per 12 oz, sold loads just with a sign at the gate! Some guy called and bought £100 worth!

Out of interest do you get 5.50

I get £5.50 if I direct sell and £4.00 from the shops. I wont undercut the shops as I want them to continue to buy from me. My best shop bought 500 jars between September and December when I ran out.

Thanks I generally get £4.50 for 12oz and for a couple of years 90% sold to one organisation who then sold it on. Unfortunately they have stopped trading and I now have to get out and find a new ways of getting rid of the stuff. I have been thinking about dropping down to £4 if it sells that bit faster.

Check the label to see if it is local. If not, they're passing off.

My local honey is £6/lb but I'm thinking of putting it up as the demand is so strong for the fact it is local or for hayfever sufferers convinced it helps them.

My mentor sells is for about £5 or £6 at fairs and saw one bloke selling 'local' borage honey from Hackney at nearly £7 for a 12oz jar.

Lucky bugger having all those acres of borage in Hackney...

I never worry about honey being sold to cheap by others because it never lasts. The only exception would be fraudulent selling i.e. somebody passing off something imported as local.

Great having millionaires on your doorstep but won't work for me. £5 on the door, £5.20 in Country Markets which leaves me enough after they deduct 12%admin and charity element. Am not inclined to be greedy anyway.

as i have said before 20 mile radious of me you can buy all the honey you want for £3.50 a pound thats the going rate around here... im allways being told im too dear at £3.50 for 12oz

Buy them all out then sell it at a decent price yourself!
