Lofty4880,

It's impossible to help when you post so little information.

Either give us more details about your situation,
or for more general reading, I suggest you go to the 'Google Custom Search' box at top left, enter "swarm" and click the [Search] button...

Sorry for the confusion was trying to ask the best method of swarm control and easiest to follow for a beginner

Prep your colonies and apiary to allow for hassle free inspection.....

cut the grass, remove all tripping hazards and have every bit of kit to hand... and a well lighted smoker.

Inspect at least every 7 to 9 days in your bees swarm season and KEEP RECORDS !!!!

Searching Swarm prevention and control on this forum will give you lots of useful info... and some that is not!

Good Luck

The trouble with a forum is it has many members and especially with beekeeping many different opinions. I assume OP is looking for an easy answer to 'how to prevent swarming' without wading through many different methods. If there was indeed one 'best' method then everyone would do it. The fact that there are many methods suggest opinion is divided. You have to educate yourself then make a decision best suited to your bees and your available spare equipment.

As an aside I did much the same thing when I asked the bee inspector to help me prevent swarming. She performed a manoeuvre which with hindsight I wish had not been done. I have learnt to educate myself and make my own decision next time.

Good luck with whatever you decide

I would suggest the pagden method as because your a beginner it will probably be a reaction to finding queen cells rather than forward planning.

That will give you the idea but please look it up yourself. It is covered in most books also.

That has a variation if you can't find the queen.

There are loads of methods available some easy some more complicated have a look on google and pick the one you like.
