Spotted the note in this months beecraft regarding plastic QE's that where too small. What dimensions should the holes be?

Just asking because I bought four last december and comparing the holes with my old pressed steel QE's the holes look a bit smaller.

Shout the vendor and see about getting them replaced?

i had 2 hives from thornes around december so i emailed thornes and they got back to me very quickly. mine are white plastic and was told the bad batch were yellow but email them yourself to double check.

they sent me white plastics as replacement but yesterday i was pushing a swarm through it and they didnt really fit through, many got stuck. when you
inspect them closely you can see the flakey bits left from the mold which wont let them through.

take a look here especially at post #14

I took three that I bought in the sale back to T's the other day and came away with some pressed steel ones; because that is all they had left and they said they are also a little unsure of the suitability of all the plastic ones.

Bloody right they shouldn't be sure. I've just taken my replacement one OFF asbeess couldn't pass through. No wonder my two broods are nearly full of stores and the supers half drawn. And my queen hs definitely buggered off but I will cover this in my other thread.

Will ring T's tomorrow and depressurise...
