Am i the only new bee owner (i will call myself a bee keeper when i stop worrying about me messing them up so prob never) who finds it difficult not to look in at the bees all the time? My hive is close to my house so i go most nights to look at them to see if they are bringing in lots of pollen etc. I have to resist opening the hive to look for brood and honey

A clear crownboard means you can peek and not disturb them.

(And it is something to impress your friends and neighbours with)

No, I love sitting by the hives looking at what pollen is going in and the general activity level.

I have been keeping bees for decades. I still visit my hives maybe five times a day, every day, rain or shine, tell them my lows and highs, and wish them well.
Sad? No....comforting!

I'm the same, but a little more cautious than last year when a bee flew out of the entrance straight at me and stung me beside an eye. All so quick!
I feel the need to check on them several times a day and like Enrico, I talk to them a lot.

I don't talk to my bees yet i try and stay quiet and out of their flight path as my bees are in a unkept field and i try to hide the fact they are there from the local houses so i don't put my suit on often. But a huge fan of checking up on them

I am always suited these days. The novelty of being stung has worn off!

Enrico- i talk to mine but as a new bee its mostly apologies. I am begining to get good at handling gently but still finding putting supers back onto BB hard not squooshing a few.
OP- i didnt realize when started this intetesting hobby how much affection i eould have for them. I want to peek all the time to see if theyre ok but then remind myself by peeking all the time they soon wont be ok.

I have taken to laying the super down so it's resting on only two points per side.

A diamond resting on top of a square, if you like.

Gently rotate around, and the bees just move to avoid.

Voila !
