Several times I had people shouting down the phone because they had a bumble in their bedroom. People want you to drop everything and come straight away because they have dogs or children or are frightened of insects. .

.

Sometimes you really need to stay calm especially if you are on site and you have to say No i cannot do it as, it is not a swarm, its a wasp nest

Remember if it is a wasp nest, you are not licensed to use pesticides to kill a wasp nest even with over the counter wasp killer

It is ok in your own home but not on land or house not owned by you

Thank You All

A big thank you to you all for your advice. I have taken on the role and looking forward to next year. I have two younger beekeepers who have come forward to offer their support and the other members who always help out are very supportive as well.
I am providing SWMBO with a question sheet to use when answering the phone and she already uses the 'if my husband comes to your property and they are not honey bees he may well charge!' I think she adds a 'he is a miserable old git!' as well but I have not as yet heard her say it.
I have a good working relationship with a local pest controller who I refer callers to with wasps and he also relocates bumble bees, I believe they are his passion.
I send all the local parish and town councils a page for their web sites, I felt that my predecessor could have been a little more proactive in this respect, and also inform other local pest control companies.
Can anyone tell me whether I need to inform other organisations/ Police? Environmental Health? Thank you:cheers2:

our swarm collecctor lives in the north area of our division with little call for swarms in that area,so the adjacent r association are nearer to the main towns and majority bee swarm, so in the BBKA swarm web site we have used the post code location of a memeber in the main swarm area in the centre of our division rather than the swarm coordinators own post code

We also get a few calls from our local council and Housing associatin who have our check list similar to Conway BKA ( but they refer them via theBBKA web site rather than the phone as council now just get rid of calls rather than solve them )
