Swarm fairly deep in hedge, no significant bough or easy way to shake free. Any suggestions for getting them out?

Many thanks.

id leave a box or a double story nuc with old frame etc next to it with entrance v close to where they are (on flat step of a step ladder or something) and i reckon theyd enter

The way I've always tackled that situation is, if you have drawn comb all the better. Place a frame at a time up to the hedge and the bees will walk straight onto the comb, foundation will do as well (on one occasion the queen walked onto the first frame). Alternatively if you can get a nuc box or hive with frames near to the swarm, then pull the frames partially out in a horizontal position not vertical then the bees will be enticed onto the frames.

I had one like this last year. I scooped them out onto a sheet with a skep next to it. Got the queen fairly early as they all marched in.
