If a colony has died out due to starvation how should you treat the hive and combs afterwards?

Put new bees in if they did die of starvation!
It should be fine with a normal clean through.

How long have they been dead, as in have they become mouldy or are they fresh corpses. How many bees head first in the cells? It's possible to dislodge some by tapping the top bar against an object while holding the side bars. I wouldn't ask the bees to remove the dead if there are a lot, they would probably clear them all out but I just don't think it's fair on them.
