Splitting a Nuc

Is it feasible to split a 5 frame nuc, put 2 of the frames in with a new queen? So getting 2 colonies? So saving money on buying 2 nucs?

You could split anything but how quickly they will recover to any size is the question. Best bet would be to let the nuc develop so it at least fills a single brood and then order in another queen if you wish. Are you happy enough doing an introduction?

A Nuc made from a split with a Queen cell or mated Queen needs leaving alone to build up..if it is split again you will end up with two weak nucs instead of one strong one..or even none if the **** hits the fan.
