Not sure if I'm posting in the right section, I have 1 have which I keep just up the road on a farm, and I keep my spare hive in the garden, there is some capped honey in the brood chamber if this spare hive. I have noticed today there are quite a few bees around this hive, it is total sealed up and nothing can get in and I have double checked. I was wondering are these bees after the honey or looking for a new home

Could be both. They will smell out the honey and hang around for ages trying to find a way in, but that also might attract a swarm. If you make it into a bait hive don't leave the honey in there, it can encourage robbing

Yep could be both.
Now you have interest you could open it up and use it as a bait hive. Maybe remove the frames with honey but leave some used brood frames with no honey to help attract the scouts.
