Pine and pine board are very different issues. You cannot make pine board from what ever indivudual trees.
Best trunks are made to board and a worse material are used in paper industry. We have very high quality demands for board raw material. Demands are made by customers.

When the harvest machine cuts trees in forest, all trees are classified and are saved in the computer of the harvester. All trees are piled in different heaps and send to different factories.

Rotten wood stays in woods and its name is "owners heap"

This is one of the reasons western red cedar is prefered as hive material, it has a high residual amount of resin which acts as a moisture retardant, hence ******* the rate at which the wood rots.

Cedar does not contain a high amount of resin at all,it lacks both pitch and resin.

The heartwood contains extractives that are toxic to decay causing fungi.

Taking some info from a recent I think red cedar clad project on a home building programme it had to be scorched with a blow lamp to activate the resin to make it fully self water resistant. I may have the wrong wood though.

.
The duty of wood cells and duty of tree trunk is to lift water from roots to canopy. How then wood material can be " water resistant".

In old good days when ships were wood and men were iron, water conductin tree cells were filled with tar. Tar was taken with dry distilling trees which has high resin content. To get that tree trunks were violated with purpose before cutting.
