Two weeks ago I had 2 sealed QCs in a hive where the queen is from May 2014 so I assumed they were considering superceding her since she's completed pretty much three full seasons. Last weekend both QCs were gone so I left them to it in the hope that the winning queen would be mated. Today, the hive has loads of BIAS, from eggs to sealed brood, which I thought was a little fast for a newly mated virgin. I went through and, sure enough, there was the original queen, marked & clipped. Given the state of the brood, she's clearly still up to the job, but I'm completely confused about the QCs. Any suggestions why they built & sealed QCs and then got rid of them?

They changed heir minds simple as that. One of my colonies did the very same thing just two or three weeks ago

When Queenie goes off lay for a while, they sometimes make queen cells just in case, and then, when her headache has gone and she starts laying again they realise their mistake!

Newer met that

One reason is perhaps that I do not give change to start again... If I meet.

Possibilities: 1. They were swarm cells and they changed their mind due to lack of forage. 2. Maybe you have a newly mated queen in there as well i.e. perfect supersedure. Most people stop looking when they see the marked queen.

If it makes you feel any better similar has happened to me several times this year, in the process of splitting and manipulations two Queen cells have failed too hatch, also queen cells made and destroyed, personally i am just thank full of mother nature for leaving me with a laying queen for this winter, which will be 3yrs old next year unless one sneaky Queen cell that was open murders her, then it all begins again. :hairpull:.
I still love this Bee keeping pa-lava though. ;)

Actually you may have hit the nail on the head. I suppose I'll just leave them to it and be thankful that if it is this, there will be no break in brood.

More likely still a virgin queen. Weather has not been that good until yesterday? And she may only be I week mm old. Do do some simple maths before starting to panic (after understanding how supercedure works). It is not like emergency replacement, is it?
