Hi folks,

Just wondered how to replace old mangy brood frames when there is larva and bees on them.
Am I right in thinking if I was to put a queen excluder on top of my brood box and place an empty brood box with the old frames in it on top of that and wait for the larva to emerge. Would this method work? Would the bees still feed the larva above the original brood box? I am only talking about 3 or 4 old frames.

Yes the bees will move up to cover the brood and in a couple of weeks you can remove the dirty comb.
You could also put some foundation either side of the old combs and let them draw that while they are also up there if you have a flow or feed on.
