I got my first bees last month, the nuc they came in was a national so I have moved them into my langstroth hive by attaching the frames to langstroth top bars, with the spaces at end side filled with langstroth frames. Next step is to gradually remove the national frames but how and when should I do this please?

Congratulations . The short answer is do it during the course of next summer.
More pressingly - how many frames are the bees occupying? are your langstroth frames drawn out ? have they plenty of stores and have you treated them for varroa this autumn?
