I have a mixture of Hoffman self spacing frames and frames with plastic spacers, I want to have all H offman frames in the brood box. Can I gradually work the plastic spacer frames to the edge and replace with Hoffmans, What if there is brood on the frames with plastic spacers. any advice please.

Get a pack of Hoffman spacers
Thorne do them. They slide on the side bar
C Wynne Jones also do ones that clip over the top bar.
Other suppliers might have them. These are just the ones I’ve used.

Right. Ignore that

:iagree:
whatever they're called, but to answer your question, yes you can gradually move them towards the sides during inspections then next spring, when the brood nest has contracted and the outer frames are empty, change them

I’ve got loads. PM me and you can have them for nothing, depending on how many you need, of course. :D

Run a conveyor belt system as described in my blog on this site. On each inspection take a frame from one end and place it at the other until the ones you want replacing get to the end. They rarely have brood on as they will be outside frames
