Relocation of a swarm?

Hi all

Last night I hived a prime swarm. I've left the hive at the swarm location to collect the stragglers to day. I intend to move it tonight.
It was only afterwards that it occurred to me the swarm is about a mile from where I intend to keep it (my house).

Will the bees be likely to return to the swarm location if I take the hive home?...

...or does the "3 mile rule" only apply to bees in a hive that has been there for more than 36 hours?

They should still be in 'swarming mode' so no problems relocating as they won't have orientated themselves yet

You might lose some bees, but that would be dependent on lots of variables.

I don't mind too much loosing some bees - I didn't want them turning up at the swarm site and causing a nuisance\risk.

A few branches placed over the entrance for a day at the new location should do the trick.
