So last weekend I made my first real mistake. I’m pretty sure I killed the Q. My messiest hive always has lots of comb at the bottom of the frames so i was cleaning this off.

After a few mins I see what I think is half a Queen in my comb collection pot.

So here’s my plan. Any advice would be awesome.

Saw eggs so they should be able to raise QC. Gonna leave and reinspect next weekend and if I see QC then leave them all as I’d be almost 100% sure they are emergency and not swarm cells.

After that inspection should I leave them for on for 3 weeks? 4weeks? I.e 4 weeks between Q death and that check).

Or should I combine with another hive? They are my strongest hive at the moment!

Cheers

Andy

You may also want to consider taking a couple of nucs with cells off the main qless hive as insurance if you have the boxes. Even use full bodies if you don’t have nucs always better not to have all your eggs in 1 basket. Do not shake any frames with qcells on
