You have the right sort - for brewing! Well, you probably only need to go up to about 30 Brix for that, but save your refractometer for if (when?) you wash the wax cappings after extraction. Make the solution up (or dilute down) to a suitable sugar concentration and make some mead. :cheers2:
 
I checked my index instruments refractometer with my gainexpress one. The index one was extremely accurate, using a brix calibration fluid and medicinal liquid petroleum and honey whereas the gainexpress one was 1% out with the brix and medicinal liquid petroleum, and 2% with the honey.
