Has anyone tried the other (older) polyhive design from P*radise? It's not actively marketed but is available direct from manufacturer.

I would think an enquiry to them (for a multiple box order) would be worthwhile. The topic of compatabilty with current sweinty boxes should at least make them show their hand.

Older style Par*** boxes are compatible with 25 y old Nacka hives. I have boath them. Par*** and Honeypa** boces have better insulation because they do not have inside curved walls.

But Par*** has really much hive models for different countries.

I did have a brief dialogue last year. They were happy to sell me the kit but were much keener to sell me the "Bee Box" style instead, so I got a bit sidetracked evaluating that.

I currently have that feeling I knew the answer all along but needed somebody else to tell me. Anyone know a good psychologist?

No disrespect to any other forum user but I think the person with the most knowledge on interchangeability and compatibility is Murray ITLD.

That is not so difficult problem that you need knowledge.

It is only simple if you know the answer. I believe Murray has the answers because I have discussed poly hives with him on more than one occasion by pm and in the chat room. It wasnt simple for me because I fell into the trap of the paradise honey boxes with the lip.

Once I bought Langstroth boxes from Paradise headquarter and I got Russian dimension boxes. They had no label R in boxes like they ought to be. I returned them.

The seller should know those traps. It is impossible that a byer knows everything.

I've found something that could be interesting.
Technosetbee dot gr

It looks like a Langstroth. It looks plastic but it's all greek to me!
The English translation doesn't appear to work.
Has anyone seen these? And more importantly is it cheap? I've had cheap plastic kit from another Greek outfit - Anel Beekeeping. Please don't ask me how you pronounce that.

I've seen the Turkish hive Apimaye but rejected that long ago as incompatible, over-elaborate and too costly.

Greek to me too but the material looks like plastic (polyethylene) hives from Nicotplast in France that I have in use. I found them a bit susceptible to condensation but are very durable and handy to move about. I now use them mostly for making nucs dummied down with kingspan. As you probably know, plastic hives are good value but for the boxes you pay around 3 times the freight compared to poly in the flat.

I found the site and the translate worked okay, they are also for sale in bulk through Alibaba.

Has anyone, or is anyone using H@&£ypaw gear do they do Langstroth Jumbo boxes? Better than same as MB stuff? Thanks

If you do a search for Technosetbee you'll find a UK seller - £250 with bees, so might be willing to do a deal??

edit : Duh! They also sell the boxes without bees!

They only do Standard Langstroth and Farrar (3/4 Langstroth).

Cheers thanks.... At least the MB stuff will flat pack into the boot in April !!
Once again thanks!

If your 14x12 are MB poly then you will know about the 'lip' and it's disadvantages. If not, it may be something to consider as your boxes will not be compatible with other manufacturers and replacing boxes is a pain since it's not possible to set the box diagonally and slide into place. There are other suppliers including MB's suppliers that do Jumbo Langstroth with a flat top to the boxes.

I don't really understand the adverse comments regarding polyhives with a "lip".
Hives with this sort of design have been in use for decades in many parts of Europe, If the design was faulty, it would of been modified or died out completely before now. That's evolution for ya !

MB do a full sized nuc ashforth style feeder with two entrance points does anyone know if you turn the feeder box upside down if it fits/locks into place with the brood box below just curious. Thanks.

Polyhives have desingned to fill the needs of professional beekeeping.
In that job moving hives from pastures to pastures is the most essential.
You cannot keep 500 hives in certain places. You must search all the time better pastures.

Like Paradise Honey owner has 3000 hives and Honeypaw 1000 hives.

I have only 30 hives but moving hives is key point in my beekeeping.
I do not care, what they look like. I hide them in bushes, that bad boys do not see them.
