We have used this method ourselves and found the bees don't drown as they can easily reach the frames or the sides of the box. If you are going to feed this way please ensure you paint the inside of the nuc, at least half way up the sides.
Has anyone actually tried this in real life.
If it dose work it seems an easy way to go.
I cant help thinking that a lot of the bees would get stuck together and drown.
