Dear lord you have to give money away even before you buy something..no thanks i would rather pay twice the price elsewhere..that beetradex must be making a killing..the stall holders are charged and the public are also charged..no good for my head that greed..

Totally Agree. Not just the Beetradex, they are all at it.
All the "shows" are one great big money grabbing operation. There's really very few bargains to be had.
Best spending entrance fee, food and fuel money and have it delivered to your door.

Heaven forbid anyone would put an event on to make money

Its not the profiteering so much but rather the blatant extortionate over charging and the idiocy of Jo Public blindly shelling out that gets my goat. And the other thing that really bugs me is the amount of shoddy/not really fit for purpose stuff that finds its way in our hands. Posts on the forum seem to often contain "complaints" regarding quality. Maybe its time we complained louder and more publicly about shoddy goods, workmanship and overpricing......................rant over.

Oh come off it you lot are on a different planet it’s £6 for beetradex I can’t even get a pint and a packet of crisps around me for that. As to people being ripped off they have the perfect opportunity to view goods or the wish list at events like this and decide if it’s crap or not. Don’t ever let them near eBay for real crap!! and a poke in the dark. Those with any sense use these events to do a bit of business, exchange wax save on shipping and have a good nose around those bits of equipment we wish we had. You may even have a little fun for god sake.

Clearly you're used to blatant extortionate over charging then.

I'd be happy to pay £6 for the variety and quality of different suppliers that you get over in England. The UBKA charges £8 entrance for the trade show here which is nowhere near as good.

To attend the conference for the Friday and Saturday is £59 which I think is a bit on the high side.

think im heading Abelo

are there adaptation issues with the Abelo as in, do i need wedges to block the BB and super entrances?

i dont really get bees entering direct into the super....sounds like a robbers/wasp bonanza to me

also, can my english rapid feeders fit or do i need new feeders etc

what adaptations do people need to do to Abelos

Worth looking at Black Mountain Honey videos on YouTube - he's reviewed the Abelo and Swienty poly hives. Abelo hives come with all the wedges needed and I think most users will glue them permanently in.

The Abelo comes with the hole in the supers and brood boxes, they also come with a white poly plug and a vent. You just stick either in the poly plug to block them off, you can remove this and add the vent or leave open.

Havent used the English feeders but I imagine you could remove the central plug of the crown board and easily allow access to them. The roof has a hollow space for fondant/feeders.

No adaptations needed, you can sue them straight from the box if you got them painted

Very happy with maisemore sale.

Ordered some commercial poly nucs, extra nuc floors and roofs, 150 frames. About €150 euro cheaper than buying from an Irish supplier I looked at even with their sale on as well. Ordered Tuesday and it arrives to me tommorrow.

so....am looking to go with Abelo i think

i know maises sort of fit with the wooden kit ive got but would prefer it to be snug and if the quality holds up...its worth it i guess

Having been to the tradex more than once (other business not just buing kit goes on there) it seems that some must live on another planet if they think a six quid entry fee (probably barely covers insurance, security etc for the event) and the great convention offers that Maise's, Thornes and others give plus the chance to have a hands on inspection of loads of other wares from UK suppliers and those on the continent can equate to 'blatant extortionate overcharging'

My god there is some miserable gits on here , just stay at home and count the pennies

And your point is ... we should go out and find the most expensive beer we can? £6 is about 50% more than all the pubs round our way, so I call that extortionate. Why does that make me a miserable git?
