Been out 9pm tonight , had a look in apiary as you do. The sky was very light ,no wind, the air was full of pipestrelles , dozens flitting over the hives. I was wondering if they were taking the stragglers but decided probably not, then I thought :conehead:, I wonder if they're after wax moths and are wax moths night fliers?
There were a few bats around the trees outside the apiary but nowt like the numbers inside .
Any ideas?

Yes John, wax moths are definately night flyers, sometimes on a warm summer night the hives can have loads of them settled on the outside walls of the hives, often in pairs.

Well there you go "Welcome little Pipistrelles" :)
