You might recall in september I asked if a beesting could cause a flare up of my IBD and general opinion was it could not, however my flare up worsened to the point that after removing the Apivar strips and doing a follow-up OA vape,my last involvement with the bees was to wrap them up for winter. At that time I was hoping to monitor them in case they needed fed or vaped.
My condition worsened further until in November after two courses of steroids and losing 3 stone in weight I walked into A&E and they operated to remove my full colon and fit a stoma bag.
I had Delirium for a while which took me to some. Very VERY dark places, scarey, terrifying even. Iinability to swallow and lying on my back for so long took all my strength away and weight loss to 4.1/2 stone..
Recovery has been very slow and painful and I have had to have a drain fitted, but I am slowly getting better and am starting to think about my bees again.
During the few days of good weather my wife videoed the front of the hives and all three were pretty busy which I was delighted about. In a week or so I reckon I might be able to get into the apiary and lift the lids (weather allowing) to add fondant if needed, or I might just leave them bee until March, assuming they collected plenty ivy nectar?
Choices... I'm looking forward to picking up the pieces of my hobby and working with my bees again.
Wish me luck...
