Hi all,

I have brood frames of old comb, some are blank and some have old stores in them. My question is, what do you do with them?

Busy Bee

If the old comb is really manky one use for it is in bait hives, as for the old stores if it is from your current colonies and you have had no disease issues then you could feed it back to the bees.

I really want to remove it from the frames and put new foundation back in. Someone said you can use this wax or melt it down. Any thoughts.

P.S. Manky stores, would'nt be re-using anyway due to disease measures.

If the comb is really that manky I dont know if it would be worth trying to melt it down. Otherwise just cut out the old comb then pull out the pins holding in the bottom bar and the piece that holds in the top of the foundation. You can then clean the frames up.
