I bought my first colony and put in into my hive about 10 days ago.

all is going well in terms of eggs, sealed brood and they are drawing comb nicely with pollen being brought in and increasing in numbers , but i have no drones and no drone brood.

Should i be worried or not?

agree with hivemaker, the answer is no

Q will eventual lay a % of drone brood but a very new queen normally only lays drones on a misfire unfertilized egg on the first frames layed up with eggs

a stable young Q in 1st year colony will lay a fringe of drone at the edge of frame say 1/2" to 1" of brood

any large area of drone brood on a young colony or drone brood in the middle of a frame on a young colony can mean the workers are going to supercede Q

2nd year colonies will produce a higher % of drones on side of frames and under frames really as a prepartion for future swarming
