Mouldy pollen in last years supers

Hi,

Can anyone please give me some advice.

Checking the frames in last years supers I see that in a few isolated cells that some of the pollen appears to have developed a slight white mould.

Should I replace these with foundation or will the bees clean these out as they come across them?

Hi Wildwood

If it's only a few isolated cells the bees will generally chew them out and clean up no problem. If its a small patch you could scrape gently back to the midriff if you want.

Bees will clean the cells. If the wax is ruined they chew that place off and make new combs.

It always amazes me how the bees clean out and repair comb so thet they can use it again, mouldy one week clean the next.
