Taken day off work for swarms

OK looked out window 9.30 AM saw amazing sight,,in 2 Min's flat i had my bee suit on and went running for the door,,i have two Commercial hives on top of each other which u couldn't see as was black with the swarm,,only prob is they filled both top and bottom after hour ran back got phone,,

now 2 PM all started swarming again so ran out bashing pots and pans and settled again so I'm going get queen excluder put under bottom of the brood box took floor out so its two brood box's together now..
whats longest i can leave queen ex on before (IF) virgin queens in hive need to do mateing flight ?

Yip it filled two brood box cheak it in few days might need super on soon :D

bashing pots and pans - never heard that before - what's the thinking behind that and what does it achieve?
 
Makes bees think thunder find they cluster up,,,my auld mentor swears by it,and worked for me yesterday ;)

called out today to swarm and used one of my poly fishboxs very light and easy to use with a tight fitting lid, ,,this one has no vents so only good for local pick-ups
 
3rd swarm today stick clip up later,,,defo not a shortage of Bees this year!
