The full story and details of this fishy tale are not disclosed... but I wonder how heavy handed the enforcement officers were to provoke an aggressive response from the naughty angler?

Was he a repeat offender... had he been issued on some previous occasion with the advice he needed to buy a fishing license to fish anywhere in England/Wales???

I dread to think what would happen if the various government departments that relate to beekeeping activities decided to produce a revenue stream by licensing beekeeping* when the EU funding ceases?

Will there be goose stepping patrols of anti~stab jacketed enforcement officers seeking out offenders?

I buy an EA angling license as it does appear to produce some benefit to the angling community... not that I have much time to go fishing theses days!

* or Dogs / ferrets/ cats or rabbits... or even hamsters and guinea-pigs etc...

Offender failed the attitude test:

" failing to state his name when addressed by an Environment Agency enforcement officer and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour causing that person to believe that imminent violence will be used against him"

Offender failed to attend court not once but twice:

"Mr Holland was originally called to court on 24 April 2017 and was proved guilty in absence for 4 offences"

" Mr Holland did not attend court on 29 September, so was again proved guilty in absence."

So basically he could not be bothered to turn up..

I think he deserved everything he got..

:iagree:
Sounds like he has an issue with authority.

When I was Sec of our local fly fishing club we had terrible problems with poachers. Checking permits one day I was threatened with a shotgun. Police and waterboard and licensing authority were informed. They did nothing!! So the next time I met him poaching the water I provoked him ...and taught him a lesson about firearms... He never fished there again and avoided me like a plauge.... I was young and aggresive in them days.... The club folded partialy through poaching... It had been in existance from just after WW1
