Come on folks. I've been around beekeeping and fora for years .
people are people with frailties . Each has his own take on most things and so it should be .
whinging about the running of a forum is bound to be counter productive as it serves only to create more problems than it solves as well as upsetting admin .
this forum is polite compared with others I visit :D .
If you want staid civility with little or no posts , I suggest you visit the 'BBKA forum"
VM

Thats because we are a forum not a Wiki.

Should we start a Wiki with just answers ?
Any volunteers to moderate it ?
Is it really needed ?

Exactly - we are a community and in communities there is banter, chat, joking and leg pulling as well as temper tantrums, instruction and exchange of information, the same questions get asked all the time because people, especially those that need reassuring need to hear somone tell them the answer and not just to trawl around old posts - which may not be the right information anyway! (they wouldn't ask if they knew the answer) some like to observe and some to contribute (whether it's information or levity/clowning around or asking leading questions to milk more information out of the reluctant as maybe they would like the answer to) it's a place for the thick skinned, thick headed and shrinking violets like myself :D
Now someone has thrown his toys out of the pram because not everyone will sit and be talked to and some have given back what he expects them to take..................

Because we are not the BBKA and the world is full of different people.
Tolerated is a good word for it.
I don't think tolerance is a bad thing nowadays.

Comparing this to other fora is spurious IMO.
There have been many complaints (Esp. From newbies) over the years about the behaviour of some on here but they are rarely censured.
I am sure you welcome feedback from all members Mark.

I want to positively encourage it.
I want the good the bad and the very ugly !
I don't like to hear about new members not coming back, but we cannot cater to all tastes,I have always belived that we have retained more members than we have driven away.

All feedback very welcome !!

Anyone care to summarise things so far?

I could give it a go Dusty, but I fear it may put the backs up of all the holier than though sorts who recon they have the right of it ( they are wrong, as is everybody else and I'm leaving, here's my toys)

Considering the number of repeated questions I suggest having such a reference facility would be of great benefit. Quick answers without the tedium of all the back and forth brickbats and personal abuse would be wonderful.
It doesn't have to be instead of the forum but run in tandem with it. Moderation of the reference, once written, not required if it is set to read only.

Hi guys,

Sorry but I've been busy all day, what with being a media star and reaching the status of 'old man'.

Have I missed anything?

Anyone care to summarise things so far?

Dusty

dummy expectorated rattle and teddy ejected forcibly from perambulator, now standing room only on the bandwagon with an expectation for mass flagellation and a run on hair shirt sales that concise enough for you? :D

What's this about media attention then Dusty (nothing to do with me mentioning I knew of some lunatic who had hives on top of a cathedral to one of my contacts I hope?)

And by the way, is this thread in the right place - nothing very welcoming in it so far! :rules:

You can say that again - and again - and.....................

Whenever I see a post with irrational views by an overly sensitive 'natural' beekeeper. I think to myself which would the bees prefer if they were capable of consious thought? Me, who takes their honey but is kind enough to leave them food and even removes pests and deseases, or....a bear. All of a sudden I get a warm feeling inside at my unnatural selfish honey stealing

It helps me to think of beekeepers being as to the bees what windmills are to the wind, the wind and bees will always be there but windmills and beekeepers will grow old, rot and perish.

.....beekeepers will grow old, rot and perish.

It happens even if you do not have bees.

One day everything is new. New friends every morning. Pants smell like rotten.
No idea how to measure water to sugar. ... Thanks to heaven...forum...
