In previous years when supply of UK honey has been lower, the price has been higher.

However this season is looking to be a bumper one all round for many areas so bulk in buckets (30lb+) are currently around the £2.80-£3.10 per lb mark

Bulk honey in barrels up to £2.80/lb - £2.95/lb mark

It’s about supply and demand…that’s not to say you can’t get a higher price for the odd bucket of honey but large volumes are currently around the price above

Deng, sorry my language,i had to use a converter ,but you guys get as much in bulk as we get jarred, pfff, agh well, hard to compare from different countries, prices follow the local income and living costs,a 700 gram bread in Norway cost 5 euro,a 1000 gram bread in Belgium 2 euro....still.....

Blimey, you're going to be a busy chap, I calculate:

Your honey crop [jarred] has or will be sold for north of £43k [@£11/lb]
You have or will have used a total of just shy of 4000 1lb jars or 5289 12oz jars

You've managed to secure a sales price nearly three fold the national average ..... well done

Is the processing of your harvest manual or automated? how many jars a week does your wholesaler want you to deliver?
We sell mainly 8 oz jars but achieve my price above so that’s £5.50 - £6 per 8 oz pure heather £7.50 /£ 10 per £8 oz , im building relations with local and none local retailers and gained more over the last two years.
This season has been the most honey I’ve extracted ,also have 12,000 empty jars to fill in stock might take a while……

Id like to know too and also does anyone sell bulk say 1kg plus tubs from a stall or gardengate -appropriate clientele?

I get some orders for half or full dozen jars at a time- I'm thinking of offering them bulk if they want and see f I can get the tubs a a reasonable price.
I do white plastic 1kg tubs (45p ish on eBay) that sell really well at £22. Will push them more as the price of jars goes up.

Interesting. I've been looking and can't seem to find anything under about £1. Do you have a link?

Don't forget my jar of green honey...will you

Seen a gradual rise in prices last 2 years so locally in shops, local honey sells at £4-5.99 for 227g. Whilst there is the odd local beekeeper who still sells for £5 454g, most are now around a more sensible £7 x 454g. I was staggered though visiting my local tourist info centre in my nearest town, to find a local beekeeper (who I don't know) selling their honey for £4.50 for 454g jar and a special 'offer' of 3 for £12! Hubbie said why didn't I just buy it! Lots of 'scum' on the honey surface, I could see through the jars. Fortunately this centre has low traffic and it's tucked away and probably not visited much.

That's even more amazing, you're actually getting closer to north of £80k then for your honey at £10 / 8oz!

I have roughly 1400 jars stored in a barn at one of my out apiaries that sit on a pallet almost as high as me and to think that you have 12 times that amount in storage is mind blowing.

The annoying thing for me is I bought the jars and then decided selling in bulk is the way to go and so they're just sat there.

I can't see where if you said your extraction and jarring is automated, it must be mustn't it?

Yes i understand your point with cheap 15% honey market compaired to 100% pure from the comb honey. But on the lable stands honey on both, alot of peaple are clueless about this. whats to stop anyone adulterating 100% honey with corn syrup locally.
But at the end of the day what is it really worth.if 100% honey is scarce and demand out strips supply by multiples then it should cost alot more. Milk has doubled in one year . Honey has been £5 for ages..Does it not make more sense to have less colonies but get a better price than sell below break even in bulk. It seems like honey price discovery is complex and artificial. At the end of the day what happens if next year is a wash out like last year and you depend on this for your income.
What happens when the price of inputs go up even more if available at all. I walked a wheat field in Kent yesterday and i did not find one ripe kernal. The heads are all empty. A organic farmer in my area only got 3 to 4 kernals per head this year. Usually target is 25 grains per head of wheat. Bear market.

£11 a lb so 8 oz £5.50 wholesale

Prices around here are low.
Average for a 1lb jar is about £6 or so.
Some sell small amounts for £5 per 8oz.
Most bee farmers seem to be happy at £5 per lb jar around here or sometimes less which makes it hard to go much above.
See it for £5.75 for 12 oz quite often.
Wholesale around here seems to be about £5.50 per lb or just under £4 for 8oz.
We do have a lot of hobby beekeepers who sell it for next to nowt.

Our area seems to have an awful lot of people on low wages.

Same place you get yours.. just knock twice wink wink ask for big joe right. May be honey is a luxury product. Like caviar ,champange, fancy cars, truffles. Mind you a kg of gourmet mushrooms sell £200 kg.
I harvested really good chicken of the woods recently and it was heaven to eat. Would have paid a bit for them from a seller.. that is what happens when peaple devalue your purchasing power with the Keansian financial model.. a house used to cost £2000 100 years ago now add 00 or 0.. honey was £5 100 years ago and still £5 now. A bit exhagerated but hey.. good day

Around here, I am selling at £6.00 for 1lb jar, was going to set it at £6.50 but held back due the current financial situation out there. It mainly goes to friends and neighbours. I am happy with the price for the area. Especially when I was told someone near by was £4.00 same size jar (that is undervaluing the product).
