surprisingly the DNA test results have shown 100% Amm in many with M group in the mtDNA...

You agreeing that it wasn't worth it.... made it worth it....so here it is.
Not a surprising result really.
But note the M group of the mitochondrial DNA includes intermissa and iberica as well as mellifera, according to Ruttner's research.
More importantly it only tells you where your Amm's have come from (ancestry), not what they are now!

To simplify; mitochondrial DNA is for all practical intents and purposes inherited solely from the female side of any mating (not 100% but near enough). Your own mtDNA is inherited from a female on your mothers side many many many many generations ago with very few changes to it's sequence occurring during it's passage through the generations. Studying it tells you what you what you originated from from, not what you are now.
It's the very few changes that occur during the many generations it is passed on that allows lineage maps to be drawn of a bee or human or whatever's ancestry. A powerful lineage tool whose results are easily misinterpreted.

Stihl leaf blower. Put the super on it's side on a milk crate and blow the buggrs out. They are so confused by this they don't get particularly cross when I do it, they're too busy sorting themselves out. Clears a super in a minute or two. Sorry you got stung so many times.
.

Stick super on the roof rack of your car and blast up and down the motorway for two hours sounds just as sensible.. :spy:

Nah your bees can't re-orientate back to the hive if the last ones are getting blown off as you enter the Tyne tunnel.
It's a common method when large number of supers to clear. Easier with 2 people than one.
Bees are surprisingly resilient....look up bee vac.

I have seen bee Vac's used for swarms and such but never to clear supers, a bit brutal from what i make of it. but i will live and learn.. ;)
