Hi all!

From Milton Keynes, and starting with NBBKA on a beginners course this week, very excited to get going!

Plan to keep bees on an allotment near by, as don't really have room in the garden, and with young children.

:welcome: To the forum.

You're doing it the right way, get some knowledge first before bees.

Good luck and enjoy the bees when you get some.

Welcome Matt

I am a MBBKA member. As the swarm officer I have one or two people in your area that I know on the phone. They have been most helpful. There is one lady who is involved with beekeeping at the OU. I also went to a talk run by NBBKA the other week where Celia Davis was the guest speaker. If I can be of any help or assistance anytime please feel free to send me a PM or get my number from the usual sources.

Hi Matt,

I'm an NBBKA member but rarely get to meetings because of work and children etc - going to my bees is my bee time! They are all a decent bunch and I know looking for enthusiastic new members.

Be absolutely sure before having an allotment hive - speak to your plot neighbours first. I think NBBKA allow new members to have hives at the teaching apiaries - speak to the chairman.

There is also several swarm catchers who might be able to set you up and some sell nucs.

Thanks all - really good to hear your advise - I am potentially looking for a mentor for this year/next year if anybody is interested - either Milton Keynes or Bedfordshire way would be ideal
