I have a good few thousand acres of land that i do pest control on, it's up in the Yorkshire dales and there's heather moors everywhere Leyburn is the nearest most popular spot, i'm not experienced enough to move a hive on the land but i will however have a word with two friendly farmers if it is ok to plonk several hives on there, if anyone genuine is interested and if i get the go ahead i can show any genuine folk some decent spots well what i think are decent and see what you think for when the heather flow starts, all that i ask is a jar or two of honey for the farmer in question.

The important consideration is, is the moor burnt? As in is it a managed grouse moor as the heather needs to be youngish to produce well.

That's the business and look for sites featuring bracken as it denotes shelter.

Well i have been on the spot today and i got the go ahead from the very kind farmer, there is two potential spots on this land to place Hives, one spot is in a fenced of wooded area so livestock will not be a problem maybe 2/3 hives here, the other spot is in a corner of a field which is V shaped and any hives will have a dry stone wall either side which will shelter them from wind i would say this spot would hold around 5 hives with a water source not far away, someone local to the area or around 1.5hr away may well benefit its up to you lot the offer is there and anyone who wants to have a look let me know, i forgot to mention but a 4x4 would be handy, i'm back there tomorrow and i will take some pictures.

This is one of the places where hive can be safely placed i would say its around 40 yards long.

Here is the heather moor that is directly to the right of the hive location over the dry stone wall, the light patches are where the heather has been burned or cut last year, i just wish i had the experience to use it.
