I seem to have gotten a bunch of frames with the foundations removed by the bees along the support wire...

Is this because of poorly made foundation I wondered? If the wire is near the surface of the foundation wax to the bees react by removing it?

Any other reasons we know about?

Will they build comb around it?

Should I care? There is not a great deal of loss...it just doesnt look as neat and obviously there is less comb....

Sometimes they just do this. If the foundation loss makes the frame wobbly I'd suggest get rid and replace. Otherwise do as you think best. But a bunch? Maybe replace the lot, depending whats in the good parts, brood/stores/pollen etc.
They rarely build them back having now designed their "home" the way they want it.

Seen a lot of photos of brood frames where no eggs are laid, or they are removed by house bees over the wires so in full capped brood frames there are zigzags of empty cells over the wires.
Some bees don't like the wires in the foundation.

I have one colony that removed a lot of the wax around crimped wire but left the usual diagonal stuff alone
