Three days ago, driving home from the Suffolk Show at Ipswich (where I was a steward in the Suffolk BKA tent) my wife and I passed several fields of apparently dense green foliage with white flowers - denser foliage than potatoes. We could not stop to investigate as the traffic was horrendous++.
We couldn't suss what crop was growing. Could it be buckwheat, as per another current thread?

My apiary is 30 miles west of Ipswich and I've experienced a massive flow, continuing despite the OSR being well over. I haven't spotted any such white-flowered crops nearby however. I do have fields of field-beans nearby but currently they don't resemble what we saw from the car.
Any ideas?

We have one near us, I keep meaning to stop and see what it is, not peas, not potatoes, not poppies. I will try and remember next time

Possibly field beans ... Look a bit like broad bean plants but more flowers per stem .. grown around here as an interim crop as they put nitrogen back into the soil and provide green manure when they are ploughed back in ... I've also seen them harvested for cattle food - presume they are turned into a sort of silage ?

Probably field beans I'm thinking as well

Our field beans all broke into flour last couple of days. Hope we have enough bumbles to break into the flowers.

Bird seed, I am probably correct. I saw several fields of peas starting to bloom last Wednesday. Certainly were not olives, even though I have no connection with olive production. They tend to be taller still.

How tall where they, Olive Owner could be correct if they are around knee height if they are getting on for waist height it will be beans of some type.

Not certain because we were passing in the car and only glimpses obtained.
