I happened to be in the garden this afternoon when I heard a vehicle pull up alongside my roadside honey sales box. A female voice from the far side of the very thick tall hedge which separated us was wondering how she could obtain change for a twenty pound note - purchasers are asked to put the money down a drainpipe which leads from just above the box to a chamber pot in the garden.
We couldn't see each other so I shouted "Can I help?". She explained her need for change. She could see that there were two nearby gates but it wasn't clear which was ours and which our neighbour's.
She asked "Do I go backwards or forwards" All I could think of in reply: "That, madam, depends on which way you are currently facing"
