I've just managed to make polystyrene bee hats for my nucs!!.

The craftsmanship is not the finest and I'm sure Ito not 100%...

But to quote a major retailer ' every little helps'!!..

I tried three times millet but it's not playing ball!!..

Nah...another two goes ..upload fail!

I'll have to find an available tec geek for that Jenkins! !

Don't laugh!!..BTW it's kind of three and a half sided...just wedged a shorter bit into the front and bunged with bits of left over expandable foam!

If it keeps them from dying little odds what it looks like. I had considered using polystyrene for mine but i didnt want the mess so i have got kingspan and have put ducting tape on it to stop it from falling apart and making a mess. I also put a fleecy blanket in the super above them to keep them warm and put a ratchet strap to keep the roof on

Will a fleecy blanket not hold any moisture that might be in there?

What would u recommend millet?
Anything waterproof that is laying around, i made some plywood Nucs last year and i covered the roofs with some left over butile pond liner, maybe you could stick a bit of roofing felt onto them with some decent silicone.

I'll have a hoke in the shed...Might be a drop of masonry paint kicking about...the weather is starting to get nippy now so a bit concerned about getting a window to take them off..paint..and allow time to dry?

I paint in situ on a fine day ..

The fleecy blanket might keep in the moisture im new to this all. This is my first winter with bees. But the foam isnt ready yet.
