Thornes have been pretty upfront about the things being imperfect.
Currently they are only selling them (cheapish) at shows.
They are only listed on their website under Special Offers where you will find the description
50 of our older style 8oz cut comb containers and blue 4C sleeves.

A few of the containers may have ill fitting lids or tiny holes. They should be tested with water first.

Whereas the 'Crystal' container is described as
New design, prize winner at the 2011 National Honey Show. A huge improvement on the old boring margarine box shape. Clear container with bee and cell decoration on the top and bottom. Hinged lid. Will hold 8oz comb, using the Comb Cutter below.

For a quantity of 50, I'd rather pay £6-50 for the 'new' version rather than save just £1-50 by buying the uh … unfortunate old version (which they have been trying for 3 years to clear their stock of …) and do without the cardboard sleeves.
