presumably would be good idea to place the nuc where parent hive had been for 5-7 days to get a boiling over cell raiser.
 
Jay Smith said that bees cannot tear the old combs down in order to build a proper queen cell.

You can help them out by tearing out the bottom 2 ribs of the brood cells with your hive tool. This is the MDA Splitter on the spot queen rearing method. It works good if you only have a couple hives and you don't want to set up a cell starter and so forth. Of course, the colony raising the cells needs to be strong in bees and pollen. It works best when there is some kind of flow going on.
