I’m helping a beekeeper who has 2 hives with nearly fully formed larvae being ejected on both. See pic. One explanation offered is its drone larvae, any other explanations. Both hives have adequate stores & been treated for varroa (vaped).5A638B9E-A501-4E02-A945-A3DD1A8D1055.jpeg
 
Often during the winter you’ll find the odd drone larvae/pupae laid up in patches of worker brood. I just think it’s the queen laying up the gaps. I’d still be inclined to check the obvious though like stores/treatment if possible.
