When I lift off the roofs from hives,in summer the only thing I smell are honey and propolis and the warm smell of bees..

I have earwigs, ants and the odd slug in hives..does not appear to affect coms or honey..I worry more about the weather and its impact on crops (a lot this lousy summer)

Entirely agree, no idea what they smell like as the only thing I smell are the bee smells.
The only problem I've ever had with Earwigs was often getting a face full after removing the covers off the terminals up telegraph poles. Always belt in first :)

My 14-year old mentee calls them forky-tails. I like that. Is that a common name for them, or specific to Banffshire? Perhaps Madasafish can tell me.
