Mima hive checker,

We used to use a "pooter" a tube and conical flask arrangement, where you created a vacuum by sucking air from flask whist directing another tube at target insect, whilst doing zoological surveys (of wild fauna) during university field trips.

The trouble is that when you inspect a hive you need to look inside it, frames, brood, stores. You can catch individual bees at the entrance without a pooter, but what will looking at one bee tell you?

It might be useful for hedgerow pete's patent varroa eradicator. You'd have to make sure you didn't catch the same bee twice though ;)
