4 to 12!
Just inspected a couple of hives. Found open and sealed QCs in both! Checked my records & it's 9 days since last inspection, not 7 as I thought!
Both hives populous, and no scouts at my bait hives (previously almost immediately after a swarm). It's been cool today too & not flying much until late afternoon.
Maybe they haven't swarmed yet, but I couldn't find the Q in either hive (both on double brood).
I've cut them back to a single open cell each.
I've also exchanged the position of one of them with a recently hived prime swarm in the hope of bleeding off most of the flying bees & strengthening the swarm (just went into a hive from a nuc today.
I really don't want more colonies!
I guess I could just sell a couple.
Really wishing I'd united some in the autumn, I waited until spring & then left it too late!
