Hi,
During the winter of 14/15 I lost two colonies which had been badly affected the previous autumn by varroa. I have been sublimating oxalic crystals since. This winter I have been lucky enough for all my hives to emerge unscathed (8). I am however still getting quite a few bees in front of the hive each day showing the obvious sign of DWV, both worker bees and drones. During my inspections over the past week I am seeing the odd bee in the hive with DVW but nothing alarming.
My question is whether or not I am wrong in assuming DVW and varroa go completely hand in hand? Are there any methods people use to combat DWV apart from the usual varroa methods?
Cheers
