I currently house my bees on standard nationals and have the opportunity of having a new colony which is already housed on deep nationals. How easy is it to transfer bees from deep nationals to standard nationals? Should I transfer all the frames to my standard national and position an eke underneath it? Or just substitute the deep national frames with standards as and when the brood hatches?
Any advice would be most welcome.

Never the answer, just bee abuse

No such thing as a standard National, you have SN (shallow national) DN (deep National) and 14x12 (or jumbo National) so I presume you have been offered a colony on 14x12. Your easiest method would be a Bailey, if you have some drawn comb, it will be quicker.

Yep, as JBM. They are all BRITISH STANDARD boxes - BS shallow, BS deep and BS extra deep. Any of those boxes can be used as broods or supers. Simple really, when people use the correct terms.
