Not heard anything more either Kev, there is a bulletin coming out soon and as you say we have the meeting on the 13th Feb so maybe more news then, i like the idea of training in principle but likewise i will not be able to spare two plus day away this season. Chris

I received an invitation to attend a DASH accreditation session in October being held in Andover, i can't remember applying for a place but never mind i am tempted to go along and have a go, has anyone else received this email and is intending to go, i was under the impression there was going to be some training days to be held before the accreditation process starts or did i get that wrong. Chris

Hi Chris,
Yes I got invited too but Oxford. Couldn't make that date so I'll be going to York instead. I don't remember whether training was promised but I guess enough people will pass without training to justify doing it this way.

Hi Chris,s
Yes I have had an invite to Andover, unfortunately it's the second week of jury service so unless I get discharged early I will be going to Oxford as Charles has offered this because I cannot get out of jury service, second time I have been called and know lots of people my age that have never done it.

Hi Kev, i don't suppose you will be able to attend the BFA meeting as well if you are on Jury service ? i did it 20 years ago total waste of time and effort did two cases and found them both Not Guilty all that Tax payers hard earned money!! down the pan, i will give you a bell before to check. Chris

Hi Chris I got discharged at the end of last week, 1 case and same as yours, and the time wasted !!!! not going there, so all being well see you on Wednesday.

Attended our area DASH accreditation day yesterday, which was very well attended, it was good to meet members and put faces to names, the day itself i thought was very good and worth attending irrespective of passing or not, lots of information available on a very important subject to us all, still not sure how the inspectors will be able to inspect all colonies of those who have passed, some 2000 plus ! over and above their usual work load if everyone passes that is !!, well done to Nigel and the team on a great day. Chris

Yes the York day was interesting. Only 7 of us turned up and were outnumbered by FERA staff including all the RBI's.

Yes we were told that Chris and i think the next one has a similar number booked in, we must of had in the high twenties or more, maybe that reflects the level of disease down here in the central south a EFB hotspot we are told :spy:

Anyone heard whether they have passed the accreditation stage or not ?, i know i am being a bit impatient, but i thought they said we would be informed within two days so just wondering if its just me maybe its bad news !!

Just heard from Charles and it seems that i have passed phase 1 ! roll on phase 2 in 2014 anyone else heard yet ? Chris

I have just updated my details on Beebase after being prompted by Charles, has everyone else updated their details yet, I believe the inspections will start in April on a risk assessment basics, I still have reservations about this phase of the process with the inspectors having to inspect every single frame which seems a bit of overkill to me and will take forever to complete, anyone heard anything ? Chris

Yes I just got an email too.
I'm more or less accurate on Bee Base I think - it was spot on sometime last year but list of active apiaries is always a moving goalpost.
I'll be impressed if they actually succeed in inspecting every hive by the end of April, but the risk-based approach makes sense and is probably the only sensible way to proceed.

Anyone herd anything about the inspections (phase two) yet ? i was wondering about how much notice we will be given, I must say i am not looking forward to this part at all but would just like to get it over and done with as quick as possible, Chris

As a full inspection of colonies is needed Chris I guess that the SBI,s are waiting for the temps to rise as I for one would not want any of my bees shook of frames yet, it disrupts things badly enough at any times let alone with the wild variations in temperatures at the moment.

Inspectors Spring conference from April 1 (appropriate?)to 4th, I expect inspections will begin afterwards.

Agreed Kev i would not like to commence those inspections just yet but was thinking more in terms of where we were on a list, i amuse they have compiled one as they are prioritising high risk areas, i for one could do with as much notice as possible, two days notice is no good to me, just me being inpatient again;)

Anyone point me in the direction for some info on DASH. Google doesn't seem to help me.

Try the Bee Farmers Association Bates i think i am correct in saying that DASH is a joint initiative between them and Fera, i think there is some info on the BFA website hope this helps Chris

I have just heard from the SBI and it looks like my inspections will start next week, he has allowed three days to complete the job, fingers crossed for good weather we will see :sunning: anyone else had their inspections or heard when theirs will be ? Chris
