I have a demaree that has work well and have queen with brood in both top and bottom BB’s. It’s getting too high and I have removed the demaree board and replaced with a top board,52B877EE-6D9F-4477-8EFB-702C016CF64B.jpeg so now both split vertically. Thinking of changing to a horizontal split in the same apiary but presumably all the flying bees from the moved split will return to the original location. Any tips on preventing this or is the only way to move to a different apiary?

Worth bearing in mind that one big colony will store more honey than two modest ones.
Why not combine and go double brood?
If the old queen has valuable genetics keep her going in a nuc?

That looks nice. I've already done this with one of mine, I placed the top one right next to the mother hive. There is confusion but no more than the confusion you see when you are down to the bottom brood with a cloud of foragers finding their home has gone. By the time I rearranged the hives, they were sorting themselves out and fanning. After that, a series of moves.

I do like your stands Etton
