Can Bee species really be so different?

My 2nd year I bought two NZ queens and we called them the teddy bears. When it was cool our black bees were working hard and the TB's were sitting at home. So the answer to the OP is yes.
Yes I had some of those back in the 80s amazingly quiet bees. The breeder queens hives never really amounted to much but the daughters were pretty good, particularly as there weren’t many options at the time. Definitely a little prone to acarine not that that’s a worry nowadays.
