Bulk Inverted Syrup Wanted

I am looking for a contact for buying bulk inverted syrup. We are a group of beekeepers getting together, to try and get a better deal on a bulk order. Order would be possible about 28tons as this is the legal limit that can be carried by an articulated truck. Any contacts would be appreciated.

Google Apisuc or Belgosuc . Lots of points of contact there .

My only suggestion would be to weigh it out as it comes out of the tank into ibc's or whatever bulk tanks you are going to use . We borrowed a Manitou loader with in built scales and came up nearly a tonne short on a 6 tonne load . Even the driver was surprised how far out he was .

I would take a deep breath before dealing with James Flint of Gemini Foods Ltd for buying Apisuc or Belgosuc. He is the main UK dealer for the stuff i think. I was 2/3 of the way through a deal with him for 10 Ton of it and he bailed out on the deal giving no reason, leaving us high and dry last year. Buyer beware!

I had a similar experience but I thought it was more that my quantity was too small and obviously infrequent, ie once a year.

Was advised to go to one of the other bee equipment suppliers who then charged a mark up on the price, making it hardly worthwhile and also I had to collect it from them or arrange a courier/collection.

Got my smaller quantity (ie less than 2 tonnes) elsewhere.

Good luck Keith .
My colleague went direct to Apisuc , not through a middle man in the Uk . Cuts another person out of the 'profit' loop . Also as you are paying in Euros from Ireland the price can be fixed and you are not at the mercy of the exchange rate .

Something else to bear in mind , the driver wont want to do more than a couple of drops . Its bulk delivery and understandably he wont do a tonne here and there .

The tanker used by Belgosuc has 3 chambers (not quite identical sizes). It's not economical to come with an empty chamber so unless you want a full load (i.e. 24 tonnes +) you are at the mercy of others who might want a similar quantity. So if you're lucky your order is the 3rd one and you get your delivery. Otherwise you might need to wait or in an extreme case you won't get your order.
The only thing to do is order early or take a whole tanker if your cashflow can stand it.
I used Gemini without any problem last year.

Keith, if you contact Apisuc direct they will probably direct you to James Flint (Gemini Foods) who in turn will direct you to James A Finlay Ltd, 29 Maghaberry Road, Moira, Craigavon BT67 0JF (028 92611300) who are their distributors in NI.

Myself and another beekeeper liaised with James Flint and Jim Finlay to have syrup and fondant brought in during 2012 and a lot of NI beekeepers have benefitted (I think fondant was just over £13 for 12.5 kg and syrup was a bit over £11 initially - these prices did go up by the end of 2012).

I made enquiry about buying a couple of bulk containers this year (2013) but the charge/deposit for the cubitainer was too much. For the time being it is more cost effective for me to buy the 14kg containers of syrup.
