A hive, which swarmed on 19th April , was caught and re hived, went to swarm again today but all returned to their hive. They have plenty of room and food, why would they want to swarm again?
Regards
Liam C.

They are trying to reproduce, not just find a larger space. Bees are a super organism, swarming is how they reproduce.

Oh yes. One hive can throw four or five casts if it wants. Unsure if you meant the old hive tried to swarm again or the swarm you caught. Usually it is the old hive that throws them out like that! Some bees are worse than others at doing this so you may wish to requeen it sometime however it can be useful if you want to increase your stock. At the worst you get a new queen and you can reunite some of the casts to bolster the numbers back up

Unless you do something about your gene pool, yoo might be up to twenty by the season end and have hardly a skerret of honey crop!

It was the first swarm , from a good hive, which I caught and put into a new hive that went to swarm on me today. On a closer look the hive might be low in food so I did my first ever AS and will feed both hives in the morning. Hope it works as I,m off to France on Saturday for 10 days.

sounds to me like you may not have hived the queen in the first swarm!! I would suggest it is very unusual for a correctly hived swarm to swarm again!!!!
